Dense presents two shows by Spyweirdos in Berlin

Pictures first, as they are allegedly worth a thousand words each:

Spyweirdos
+ Huron
January 22nd, 2011
free in store gig at the store

Another great (and free) in-store gig at the Dense record-store, this time inviting Spyweirdos, the spearheading composer of the Greek glitch scene (who has worked in the past with such people as Alva Noto, Murcof, Funckarma and Hecq) for a performance of his sharp, glitchy and soulful electronica.
We’re not forgetting to support our local scene either, inviting Huron (of the Crazy Language netlabel fame) for a rare performance of his mesmerizing and highly evocative beats.
As usual with Dense, the show is free, but also starts early. Be there at 7PM sharp!

Spyweirdos with Floros Floridis
January 26th
Theaterkapelle
Boxhagener Str 99
Berlin Friedrichshain

Following his purely electronic in-store performance at the Dense store on January 22nd, Spyweirdos will join the stage with Floros Floridis to present their mixture of glitch electronica and live jazz instrumentation (a path they have explored on two albums) as part of the “Jazz & Ex” (standing for “Jazz & Experimental”) sessions of the Theaterkapelle.

This will be the first time that these musicians perform this concert outside of their native Greece.

Nicolas Chevreux (from Ad Noiseam & Dense) will play some nice slow beats and dusty dubs before and after the show.

Densehall #5: KANGDING RAY, BYETONE, LOOPS HAUNT + DENSE-DJs at CHEZ JACKI – Saturday, January 8th (23:00h)

December 30th, 2010 No comments

KANGDING RAY (Raster-Noton)
BYETONE (Raster-Noton)
LOOPS HAUNT (Black Acre, Fortified)
DISSCOXX (Dense, Stillavailable)
JADE MONKEY (Dense, Contortion)

BYETONE (D, Raster-Noton)
www.myspace.com/benderbyetone
beside the management of raster-noton he is responsible for graphic design and public appearance of the label. additionally bender performs solo under the pseudonym byetone. bender creates his music digitally. he assembles sine tones to complex sound fabrics. digital clicks and effect plug-ins are essential to create the rhythms. all this is brought in a timely relation and so a track is born — an artificial world without any physical effort.
computer music is often hard to perform in front of an audience. although possibilities seem almost unlimited it is difficult to present this music in a concert setting without an immense deal of technology. bender therefore uses visuals in the sense of animated light. abstract animations support the abstract pieces of music — in this way the rhythm of music is transformed into a graphic equivalent. by using the computer bender controls the animations in realtime. in connection with sound effect processing this enables him to interact live on stage.

KANGDING RAY (FR, Raster-Noton)
http://www.kangdingray.com/
Kangding ray’s music reflects his wide musical background, and a particular way of merging beats and textured soundscapes into slowly evolving compositions.
KR combines machines with « real instruments » in a subtle and rythmic suite, integrating digital anomalies, walls of distortion, massive bass lines, micro-noises, voices and field recordings to create tracks that sit right between noise-pop, dubstep and experimental music.
His live performances are intense moments of musical experimentations, mixing different layers of instruments, using analog synthesizers, drum pads or guitars.
KR performs solo, or together with his « band » mates :
Yacine Djeradi is playing the E-Drums, and Loic Lebouteiller is turning the knobs on a Waldorf Pulse, a Microwave XT and an Access Virus.

LOOPS HAUNT (GB, Black Acre / Fortified / Eklektik)
www.myspace.com/loopshaunt
Loops Haunt must be crazy. or a genius. most likely he is both at the same time… only 24 years old, he throws a sound at his audience, that combines basslines a la Milanese with beats so dope, that they could be coming fresh out of Madlib’s MPC! And still manages to achieve an musical eclecticism worth of a Frank Zappa. But still he is a logical extension of the new UK Bass Music sound from his home country Scotland, which, with the help of the innovaters behind the Numbers label, changed the dancefloors around Europe in 2010. We wereN’t the only one being convinced by his sound: Loops already played with all the big ones from Aphex Twin to Autechre and was even on the road with 65daysofstatic as their support act on their last tour!

The night is as always hosted by the lovliest record store crew you will ever meet: DISSCOXX & JADE MONKEY!

—————-

aus (JP):
aus is the solo project of Yasuhiko Fukuzono of Tokyo, Japan. Fukuzono
started making music for experimental films when he was still a
teenager. As aus, he has performed live since 2004, including sets at
SonarSound Tokyo, Summer Sonic Festival, De La Fantasia Festival along
with many international artists such as Haruomi Hosono (YMO/Sketch
Show), Chaterhouse, Daedelus, Ulrich Schnauss, Helios, Xela, AGF and
collaboration with Sylvain Chauveau (Type), Lindsay Anderson (aka
L’altra), Robert Svensson etc. aus has released 7 albums so far and
“Lang” (Preco, 2005) became a huge hit throughout Japan. The “Lang”
remix album gathered many popular musicians like Ulrich Schnauss,
Manual, Joshua Eustis (Telefon Tel Aviv) and Kettel, Isan, Bracken,
Dosh, State River Widening and The Remote Viewer.

novisad (DE):
Kristian Peters is producing electronic music since winter 1993/94.
Starting out with very unconventional and hard techno tracks, becoming
more and more experimental, he finally found his place in ambient
music. However, Kristian does not see his music as ambient. It
primarily represents an emotional stage of experiences or an episode
of life. The titles can give clues, but are only a superficial
circumscription, the very meaning should be coming from the music
itself.

el fog (JP/DE):
el fog is a solo project of Masayoshi Fujita. He plays vibraphone with
loop machines, effectors and bass, beats & noise. He has been
influenced and inspired by electronic music, jazz, dub, noise, hip
hop, classic etc…, and also the silence and deepness of the fog and
the mountains and the gravity within.

The Boats (UK):
The Boats are the well known duo of Craig Tattersall and Andrew
Hargreaves, now joined by Danny Norbury on cello, as well as Chris
Stewart and Elaine Reynolds on vocals. Craig has previously recorded
under Hood, the Archivist and The Remote Viewer, runs the Cotton Goods
label and co-runs the excellent Moteer and Mobeer labels with Andrew
Johnson. Andrew Hargreaves records as Beppu and co-runs the Lacies’
label with his partner, Alice. As The Boats they have released various
works on Moteer, Our Small Ideas, Flau (’Faulty Toned Radio’) and of
course, Home Normal with ‘Words Are Something Else’.
