DENSEHALL #10: MACHINEDRUM, NABO, VKTR, DISSCOXX, SLEEPWAKER, AREA BOY

June 19th, 2011 No comments

We´re very pleased to welcome Mr. MACHINEDRUM back in Berlin. After making our hearts and ears go boom with the secretperformance of his sideproject SEPALCURE – held on our last year´s christmasparty, we´re very happy to invite him again (just on a proper stage this time). And there´s a good reason to do so: He´s just about to release his new LP this summer on one of our favourite labels Planet Mu.
There´s gonna be heavy bass driven support from Denmark´s new breed of beats. The New Folder collective from Copenhagen catched our attention last year with a label-compilation of pure beauty located somewhere in the triangle of wonky/instrumental Hip Hop, Post-Dubstep and Future Garage. They´ll send us two of their embassadors:
NABO released in 2010 a magnificent 12″ on the (finally!) reactivated Hobby Industries label – also featuring a remix by Clouds.
VKTR is set to deliever you a proper downtempo experience in between abstract Hip Hop and Slomo-House. Sure this will make your booty shake!
On the 1and2´s: The Dense Allstars this time formed by DISSCOXX & AREA BOY accompanied by Standard´s SLEEPWAKER with a selection of the finest in bass driven music.

Presaletickets available at the Dense Shop for just 7,- €.

DENSEHALL #9: Friday – 13th of may – ONI AYHUN with surround audio & visual set feat. MFO

——————————

For this night Oni Ayhun and MFO brought into being a stunning audio-visual performance at the border of club culture and media art. Using both surround sound for Oni Ayhun’s music and multiple panorama projections, they create a cocoon within the club space, allowing the audience to merge into the other-worldly spheres of this androgynous character. Oni’s compositions combine disturbed dance music on the border to insanity with free dreamy drone stories without a beat. Like a surrealistic musical with a narrative based on associations, abstractions and confusion, the music is a journey through multiple settings and scenes. MFO creates visual spaces where intensity and distinct aesthetics take centre stage and technology is subordinated. His works aim at the subconscious over the conscious, at emotions over intellect, at ambiguous over well-defined.

The night is supported by Berghain resident and Ostgut Ton label artist Sam Barker, whose idiosyncratic sound combines house, techno and IDM into an impelling sound, being both a suitable soundtrack for a lazy afternoon rave and a high-voltage cyberpunk moshpit on steroids.

Stobocop, besides being a year-long member of the Dense Records team, is a dj you surely should call an institution. Not only that he has been around multiple times longer than most of us live in this city and know how to move to a 4/4 beat, he is also a key-figure of the german electronic music scene. Both his label Karaoke Kalk and Kalk Pets are responsible for releases that constantly update this cities importancy and position on the map of relevancy in electronic music.

The night is as always hosted by Dense Records, your favorite store for records and general mischief and the “Dense Allstars” DJ-team.

CHEZ JACKI (behind Club Maria)
