Ah spring feelings: we’ve definitely awoken from our winter lethargy and are getting better with our newsletter, as you might (and should) have noticed by now.

Before we begin, note that we will host a third in-store gig for the year this Saturday (yes, in about 48 hours) at the store:

Let’s talk of records now: we’ve got a lot of new indietronica from German labels: new Dub Tractor CD and LP on City Centre, new Ember CD on Ahornfelder (from whom we’ve received a lot of backstock as well), various Seabear releases from Morr Music; there’s definitely some pretty cute tunes in the air for everybody here. This also applies to Shitkatapult’s first relesae of the year, the debut album by Notic Nastic, “It’s Dark But It’s Okay”.

What about dubstepy, you ask? How about a heavy 12″ by Matta on Ad Noiseam, a few Untold releases on his Hemlock imprint, the new Scuba album on Hotflush or the new “Cloud Seed” double LP by Vex’d on Planet Mu.

Before leaving the electronic aisle: yes, we do have the limited (and luxurious) vinyl edition of Autechre‘s new “Oversteps” album as well as the new Gonjasufi album, also on Warp.

Unbelievable, we know: while this newsletter had been sent with metronomic irregularity for quite a long time, here comes a new one (short and compact), a week after the previous, long one.

There’s therefore fewer items in this one, but still several very worth mentionning. How about new records by no less than Starkey and The Bug, as a starter? New 12″ by Joy Orbinson, Terror Danjah or Jahtari’s Maffi you say? We’ve got them.

Not new per se, but mandatory and back in stock are a lot of records and CD by the essential Oval (and his So project). A lot of these items, such as the “Re:Systemisch” double CD have been hard to find for a long time, and we’ve had the luck to get a lot of backstock for them. Time for everybody to freshen up its knowledge of this important glitch artist.

And finally, we can’t close this newsletter without mentionning the absolutely breath-taking “Songs” boxset by Dense favorite Matt Elliott. Containing this artist’s three previous albums as well as a brand new one, it’s a feast for the ears and the eyes. The quadruple CD box is nice enough, but the very limited vinyl one is one of its kind, with seven clear-vinyl LP, each coming in their own dedicated sleeve. It’s not the cheapest thing we have at the store, but definitely one of the lushest.

Yes, we’re still alive. Having survived ten days of CTM festival, we’ve finally thawed and are ready to unleash more beats, glitches and riffs unto Berlin. Lo and behold, here’s a newsletter from your dear (and favorite) record store.

First off, before anything else: yes, we are selling tickets for two events taking place at Berghain soon:
-March 5th (this friday): King Cannibal, Flying Lotus, Bibio & others
-April 1st: Autechre

We recommend you pick your tickets as early as possible, and do not wait till the last minute, as these events might sell out.

The dubstep section gets the lion’s share this time around, with plenty of major singles and albums by major acts such as Martyn, F, 16 Bit, Pangaea, A Made Up Sound or Untold. There’s really too many strong new records to single one out here.

Also worth a mention is the new album by Four Tet, “There’s Love In You”, which finally arrived on both formats (the LP had been delayed for a few weeks), Xiu Xiu‘s new “Dear God I Hate Myself” angsty anthems, or the new Album Leaf album on Kranky.

We’re pretty sure that most of you have noticed: the new year has come and gone, Berlin’s freezing cold and the Club Transmediale is upon us. As every year, Dense will be there, presenting a selection of records from the store and taking care of providing your turntables and CD players with the beats you will just have heard at the festival. It’s all at WMF this year (as everybody will have heard by now) and starts tomorrow. Look for us on the second floor, in our secluded calm hideout.

First, yes, you’ve read right, the silver / chrome version of Throbbing Gristle‘s Buddha Machine (or “Gristlelism” for the friends) is in stock. Not for long, believe me.

It’s no secret that the summer is a relatively calm period on the release front, which explains why this week’s Dense newslist manages to stay below the 100 items bar. And still, quite a few gemms arrived this week. Perfect timing therefore for all of you to come and check them out before September comes, with its avalanche of new material.

Where to start this time? With Animal Collective‘s “Summertime Clothes remixes”, as it fits this time of the year perfectly. Or maybe with something more rooted in german experimentalism, with “Durch die Wüste” from Roedelius (available on both CD and vinyl). And to keep things as challenging and high profile, how about the collaboration CD between Pan Sonic and Keiji Haino, Nurse With Wound’s new album, or Sub Rosa‘s new “Anthology of Noise & Electronic Music”?

If we want to keep things a bit more accessible and club-oriented, Planet Mu delivery some nice garage with Brackles‘s “LHC”, Stivs and Ed Cox unleash some well found jungle on Death$ucker, and 16 Bit stay 16 Bit, delivering some of the most interesting dubstep of the moment.
