We told you we would send the Dense newsletter more regularely, and here we are, with a new one.

Several heavy hitters arrived this week, starting with the long awaited first full length album by Martyn‘s “Great Length”, which is proving to be just unavoidable. Very different music-wise, but not to be missed either is “Filth”, the evil-looking, acid-sounding new album by Venetian Snares on Planet Mu (available both on CD and vinyl). And yet another double LP and another kind of music, we’ve received the very strong new album by Isis, “Wavering Radiant” (in its limited, yellow vinyl edition, be fast to grab this one). And to cool things down, how about a re-issue of John Cale‘s “Fear” LP on Vinyl Lovers?

Switching from albums to single, check out the new 12″ by Jamie Vex’d (“In System Travel”), or, in a similar dubstep-meets-hip hop vein, King Cannibal‘s new “Virgo / Murder Us” on Ninja Tune. We also received several new 12″ by underrated dubstep producers 16 Bit, which we recommend you to check out. Finally, Antonelli‘s “Acid Oscillations” 12″ on Italic is very worth a listen.

Two in-store gigs this week, a month-long special sale and plenty of new records: here’s quite a lot to read today from your favorite record store.

Let’s start with the in store gigs:

-On Thursday (Dec. 4th), we’ll have sets by France’s Led Piperz, Dino and DJ Twelve (all members of the very well known High Tone collective), playing a fine selection of dub, dubstep and breaks. Watch out, this will start on 18h and end on 20h.

-On Saturday (Dec. 6th), our good friends of Denmark’s Rump Recordings wil have stop again at Dense, this time with sets by Rumpistol and Sofus Forsberg. This starts at 19h and goes till 21h.

Then, the sale: we know that Christmas-time is hard on the wallet, and are having special one-day only offers every day from now till Christmas. The offer will change every day and will not be announced, but there’ll be some goodies for free or cheap, so come to the store and check them out. It’s starting this week with a selection of two CD and one record from which every customer buying for more than 50 € can get one item free. But no, we’re not telling in advance what items we are selecting for this give away, you have to come to the store.

Then, the new beats and riffs: we’ve got quite a lot of very nice releases this week from all genres.
We could start with a big bunch of items coming from the Berlin-based Ad Noiseam label, delivering both hard-hitting breakcore (with new material by The Teknoist, Sickboy and Abelcain / Cdatakill) and down-tempo, slightly electronic post-rock (with Larvae‘s new album), and stay in Berlin with B.Fleischmann‘s new album on Morr Music. In the same highly melodic, slightly sweet fashion, Hauschka‘s new LP, “Ferndorf” also deserves the spotlight.

Definitely less sweet and considerably darker is “Demoni Paradiso”, the new CD by B.J. Nielsen’s Evil Madness, on 12 Tonar. Let’s stay drony and experimental with a new Machinefabriek LP on Morc Tapes, this times as a collaboration with the ill-named Soccer Committee, or with Jim O’Rourke‘s new “Long Night” double CD on Streamline. Finally, check out your classic with the re-issue of “Electrosonic” by Don Harper, Li De La Russe and Nikki St. George on Glo-Spot.

Where are the beats you say? How about getting them out of Flying Lotus‘s “L.A. EP #2″, in stock in alls its Warpish glory, from Benga‘s new “Pleasure” 2×12″ on Tempa, from Martyn‘s “All I Have Is This Memory” on Apple Pips, or yet from the 2×12″ of remixes by Shackleton and Applebim on Skull Disco?

And sure, you can speed things up with the new (very electro mindede) album by Kid606, “Die Soundboy Die, dub them down with Pole‘s new single (“Alles Klar / Alles Gut”) or just mash the place up beyond recognition with DJ Floorclearer‘s first LP for the always serious Cock Rock Disco.

First thing first: the in-store gigs are back at the Dense store. And behold, we’re not only having one of them this week, but two:

Monday October 20th:
-JOE LALLY (FUGAZI) & ENDUSER, live at Dense on 7PM sharp. From accoustic set to breakcore in two hours.

Tuesday, October 21st:
-PETER KIRN, with a special set by this contributor to createdigitalmusic.com, to show you how it is or should be done, starting at 8PM.

Both gigs are free and take place at the Dense record shop on Petersburger Str 81. Please attend and spread the word.

We’re on time this week, which means that the amount of new releases listed below is kept quite reasonable.

The momentum obviously belongs to Broken Note, a british dubstep duo coming out this week with a record on Ad Noiseam (“Crux / Zealot”) and two on Peace Off (a split 12″ with Starkey and the “Fueling The Fire” 12″), for some very heavy and gritty dubstep. In the same aisle, be sure to check out the new record by the great Funckarma (“Dubstoned vol. 2″, still on Ad Noiseam), as well as Headhunter‘s debut full length CD, “Nomad”, out on Tempa.

Another “heavy” hitter and important release this week is “Dolores”, the new album by Germany’s favorite doomy and droney Bohren And The Club Of Gore. On a totally different and much more joyful note, Sebastian‘s “Remixes” on Ed Banger is here to wake everybody and pack the dancefloor real tight.

Techno fans will rejoice with the new Deadbeat full length album, “Roots & Wire”, when they don’t check the new Tiger Stripes 12″ on Liebe*Detail or the new DJ T on Poker Flat. And those of you more into drum’n'bass shouldn’t pass on ‘s new record on Holland’s Prspct label.

And finally, we’ve finally also have something you can show to your grandparents to explain what kind of music you listen to: “Recomposed”, a.k.a. Carl Craig and Moritz von Oswald‘s take on Ravel & Mussorgsky (out on Deutsche Grammophon) is here as well.
