Short list this week. Blame it on the various bank holidays, on the beginning of the so-called summer pause, or just on the fact that we’re getting better with sending more regular updates.

Anyway, short list doesn’t mean there’s nothing to talk about. How about starting with a journey to the other side of the planet with “Not Given Lightly”, a compilation from Morr Music about the indie scene in New Zealand (available on wax and silicon, and guaranteed Lord Of The Rings-free). We could then head up north and welcome the new 12″ and LP by Denmark’s Badun (“Tandoori and “Last Nightsleep”, both on Mindwaves).

To keep on with the geographic referrences, let’s go with the anglo-japanese friendship in the form of two new Luke Vibert’s Japanese releases (the 3rd “Rhythm” EP and the full length CD of the same name, reprising the three 12″). Speaking of which, don’t forget that Luke Vibert is playing with Milanese, CLP and others at Berghain on Friday.

Or we could head on to the dark alleys of London with Benga’s new “Buzzin’” 12″ on Tempa, venturing together with Starkey’s “Miracles” on Planet Mu. Also on Planet Mu, don’t pass on Venetian Snares’s new “Horsey Noises” 12″ or on Shitmat’s “One Foot In The Rave” new full length album (and you just have to check this one, if only for the artwork).

Finally, it will be time for a dive to the deepest waters and deepest basses with ’s “In The Margins” 12″, also fished up this week.
