Dense

The special recommendation of the week goes to “Die Allianz“, a.k.a. a collective formed by our very own Skate together with Modeselektor, Labland, Grimetime, Revolution no 5 and ~Scape, who present quite the introduction event this week at Berlin’s Tape club.

That’s plenty of grime, dubstep and techno for all those of you who will have survived the Mayday, and mainly. In the main hall,  the Krsnskate DJ team kicks the doors open at 23h, followed by Sick Girls, Housemeister, Kode9 (feat Spaceape) and Modeselektor. The second room will be taken care of by the ~Scape people, celebrating the release of their new compilation, “Round Black Ghosts” (which you should make sure to get at Dense), with Pole, 2562 and Pinch.

The yellow fever kicks in at 23h at Tape (Heidestr 34 in Berlin) this Friday (May 2nd), and is definitely recommended by the whole Dense team.

Here’s new edition of the Dense newsletter, with a week in which people involved in the store released several items. Let’s leave our modesty in the closet for a moment and let’s see what we’re doing when we’re not standing behind the Dense counter:

-first, Lambent‘s delicious instrumental hip hop “Night At Ishigaki EP”, released by Stillavailable (a label co-managed by one of us) is in. Those of you who missed the release party this week shouldn’t pass on Lambent‘s next Dense-sponsored show at NBI on the 27th of April.

-Also brand new are three new CD on Ad Noiseam, another label founded by one of your fellow Denser: Spyweirdos‘s delicate mixture of jazz and glitch (“Epistrophy At Utopia”), Mad EP‘s heavy broken hip hop on “Bass.hed” and Raoul Sinier‘s new full length album of melodic and instrumental crazy hip hop, “Brain Kitchen”.

Also new in stock this week are a lot of dubstep 12″ from various UK and French labels, as well as the “Chaos Tea” 2×12″, showcasing the IDM and breakcore scene from Russia. Breakcore fans are in for a treat this week anyway, as we’ve got the three new 12″ on Peace Off. (EPs by Le Jad and Krumble and the “Kamikaze Club 7″ compilation). Finally, with all the press this album has received recently, how could one pass on Why?‘s new album, “Alopecia”, released by Tomlab and served to you by Dense.

-April 14 (Monday): the US hip-hopers Labwaste (a.ka. Thavius Beck and Subtitle) will grace the stage of the NBI (in the Kulturbrauerei, Prenzlauer Berg), supported by a DJ set by Dense’s Marius Reisser.
It all starts at 8PM and will cost 5 €.

-April 15th: Japan’s Lambent will play for a release-party of his new 3″ CD on Stillavailable at Pampero (Prenzlauer 242-247, also in Prenzlauer Berg), together with Dense’s Disscoxx (who happens to also go by the name Marius Reisser).

More spring-feeling than ever from Dense this week, with the new Seabar, Borko and Bobby & Blumm releases on Morr Music. Just as melancholic but with more clicks in the glitch is Trentemoller‘s new “Miss You” 12″. And for those of you who haven’t gone to bed yet, yes, we do have Lützenkirchen‘s infamous “Drei Tage Wach” in stock.

Darker and much calmer are the three rare BJ Nilsen albums “22′ 22″, “Víkinga Brennivín” and “Drykkjuvísur Ohljódanna”, or the new CD by Swans’ Jarboe and Godflesh’s Justin Broadrick, “J2″, while Genghis Tron and Boris round things up with their heavy and insane guitars.
