Dense

Some might be at the beach, some might be far away on vacation, but the Dense is still here, informing you about everything your ears need, even when you didn’t know about it.

Quite a lot of nice new items this time around, starting with a welcome re-issue on triple CD of local hero Pole‘s first three, monochromatic albums (on Scape, of course), or, staying in an calm electronica field, the new 7″ by Efterklang on Leaf.

The heavy hitters, in every meaning of the word, come from the dubstep aisle, of course, with new 12″ by Skream (on Tectonic), Distance (on Chestplate), and 2562‘s A Made Up Sound project (on Subsolo), as well as a nice compilation CD on Redvolume, and plenty of other new bassy wax for all of you DJ out there. Moving to the techno bins, Omar S comes with a rare new “The Further You Look – The Less You Will See” record, while Paco Osuna drops some “Mindacid” on the new Mindshake label. Also worth a mention are Kuniyuki‘s two remix 12″, and Quantec‘s new record on the rising Meanwhile label.

After all these beats, let’s go with some atmospheres and drones, even though it doesn’t fit the season at all: ambient gold medal Lustmord presents his new album, “Others”, on Hydra Head (also featuring members of Isis and Melvins), while the marathon-runner Machinefabriek comes this time with two new CD (on one Dekorder and one on 12K), closely followed by the almost as prolific Nadja, whose very deep guitar will help me bridge this all to two noticeable doomy metal releases, the new albums by the ever heavy Cult Of Luna and Amenra.

Still rock, but less metal, we’ve got the much talked about CSS album on Sub Pop (and plenty of pins at that) as well as Simian Disco Mobile‘s new remix triple LP and Sonic Youth‘s “Andre Sider Af Sonic Youth” collaboration CD.

Those of you who can read (or look at the pretty images) will greatly enjoy the book about GAS (aka Wolfgang Voigt) on Raster Noton, which incidentally also comes with the CD. And those of you who can not read will console themselves by thrashing and mashing to Otto Von Schirach‘s new album on Cock Rock Disco or Passenger Of Shit‘s new 7″ on Hirntrust.
